Help for the UT vs LATITUDE window of the utproc application. Questions, comments, or bugs may be sent to Ben Foster at foster@ucar.edu. This window of the utproc application is displayed when the "Plot ut vs latitude" button at the bottom of the main window is activated. This window (together with the main window) enables the user to set up and make contours from a series of TGCM history files, with time on the x-axis and latitude on the y-axis. While this window is displayed, you can continue to interact with the main utproc window to change start/end times, fields, and output device. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Selecting pressure levels: Use the "Select zp levels" list widget to select pressure levels at which to plot ut vs latitude. There are 3 default levels when the window first comes up. Hold down the "control" key to select additional levels, or hold down the "shift" key to select a group of levels. Currently selected levels are displayed in a non-editable text widget adjacent to the list widget. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Selecting longitudes: Use the "Select longitudes" list widget to select longitudes at which to plot ut vs latitude. There are 4 default longitudes when the window first comes up. Hold down the "control" key to select additional longitudes, or hold down the "shift" key to select a group of longitudes. Currently selected longitudes are displayed in a non-editable text widget adjacent to the list widget. There are plans to add the ability to specify local times or zonal means instead of longitude grid points, but currently (12/07), only longitude grid points are available. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Specifying range of latitudes: Use the "Select souther-most latitude" and "Select northern-most latitude" list widgets to specify the "bottom" and "top" latitude grid points for the y-axis. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Buttons at bottom of the UT vs LATITUDE window: "CANCEL" This closes the UT vs LATITUDE window. You can also use the close window icon in the upper right corner. "Make Ut vs Latitude Plots" Activating this button instructs the application to read the selected fields and generate a series of contour plots using the selected parameters. The plots are output to either the X display or the PS file, as selected in the main window. "Help" Displays this help message.
