Don: The solar/terrestrial group at hao (TISO) is interested in knowing more about what is happening now and in the near future at NCAR wrt video teleconferencing technologies. We have heard such terms as "access grid" and "internet2", and ideas for setting up "video conferencing" rooms for real-time video conferencing between 2 or more geographically separated locations (e.g., hao and groups at U. Michigan). We are of course also interested in how ML/FL communications would be affected, or possibly used as a testbed environment. Could you summarize for the TISO group what plans, if any, you have for NCAR in this area. Any comments re the future of ML and/or FL visualization labs would also be useful. Also, if you can point me to any URL's that would have information re the "state" of this technology, or other institutions that have tried this, I would appreciate it. Thanks, --Ben p.s. I will be at ML this afternoon for SCDUG, and may drop by your office after the meeting (maybe around 3).
