Peter:

Ray has informed me he has about $30k from his ONR contract
that needs to be spent on computing (hardware/software) by 
September. We discussed:

1. Upgrading the IPX in the TISO analysis room (there is
   currently a sparc 5 and IPX in there now) for visitors.
2. Upgrading vestal and flattop (machines in ML offices).
3. Upgrading home computing, possibly from Macs to workstations.
4. Larger monitors.

Re #3: is this possible? Would phone lines still be the
bottleneck? Are cable modems an option? Can an IP address
be assigned to a home workstation? 

What is your opinion/suggestions?
