To: nathan Subject: trip Nathan: Just realized I don't think I wrote to you after we got back. We had a great trip. After leaving Oxford we drove west, first stopped at Raglan Castle, which is very impressive (Liz made friends w/ the resident cat). We visited Burford, Ross-on-Wye, Hay-on-Wye, Stow-on-Wold, and other Cotswold villages. We drove the Black Mountain Rd in good weather, esp enjoyed the abbey at LLanthony (sp?), narrow country roads, green fields, the sheep were lambing, Liz loved the "baby sheepies". We arrived at the Gloucester cathedral just in time to attend a "Back Badge" ceremony in honor of some military regiment, complete w/ parade after. Then on west into Wales, where we spent a night in Tenby overlooking the harbor. We really liked Tenby. Then it rained for a couple of days and nights as we arrived at St. Davids. Spent a night there, and it cleared off enough for us to hike a few miles of the Pembrokeshire coastal path from Whitesands beach. Then we drove north on narrow roads along the coast, eventually turning back east. I don't remember all the names, but we came pretty close to your parent place. We visited friends in Hereford, and the Hereford cathedral, chained library, map of Mundy, etc. Returned the car at Heathrow Fri, and took the tube into London, where our hotel had no record of our reservation (I think it was the British Hotel Res Service fault), but we found a little room at the top of a nearby hotel. Spent Fri and all day Sat seeing the sights in London, including Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Westminster cathedral, National Gallery, changing the guard, and a performance of "Cats" at a theatre in the evening. So all in all it was a good trip, and we really appreciated seeing you, and walking around Oxford. I'll send you some pics, altho for some reason I only have 1 w/ you, Susie, and Liz. Thanks again, and be sure to let me know when your plans include a visit to Boulder again. --Ben
