Craig: You should now have new logins at both hao and scd. Obviously, you are not obligated to do anything until 9/20, but since you asked Maura for reading material, I thought you might also be interested in perusing the hao LAN to see where/how we are doing our work, etc. You should be able to telnet to hao.ucar.edu from a comet machine. This will put you in your hao home, /home/craigh. Take a look in the following directories (all machines at hao are cross mounted): /home/tgcm # main tgcm home directory /home/tgcm/bin # scripts and other stuff in support of tgcm /home/tgcm/tgcmxx # tgcm source codes for various versions /home/tgcm/tgcmproc # main fortran post-proc (source is in src/) /home/tgcm/tgcmidl # idl post-proc /home/tgcm/animxdr # another idl proc used to make animations ~foster/timegcm/flxcplr # stuff related to the tgcm/ccm flux coupler ~foster/tgcmvis/flxproc # post-proc for tgcm/ccm flux coupler ~foster/usr # several subdirs recording wk done w/ colleagues ~roble/ntwk # output from latest runs made by Ray When you start work, one of the first "long-term" projects from me will be to overhaul/rewrite the post-processor for the tgcm/ccm flux coupler. Currently flxproc runs 2 separate codes, a ccm post-processor and a tgcm post-processor, and then produces output of the two sets of results "concatenated" together. One problem is that the ccm processor its using is no longer supported by cgd, and is available on only one machine. Cgd is using ncl (ncar command language -- a command line interpreter to ncar graphics) to do post-proc of ccm and csm results (see the cgd web site), so we will probably use that for the new flxproc. Anyway, feel free to check out any other areas at hao, including web sites of course. You could also review the scd and cgd web sites, esp re available machines and documentation at scd, and the csm (esp ccm) at cgd. Looking forward to working w/ you. Let me know if you have trouble logging in or going to any of these sites, or if you have any questions about anything ;-) --Ben
