Jim: Ray asked me to respond to your request for NO data from time-gcm (your original letter dated June 27th!). I have put several files in anonymous ftp on the machine hao.ucar.edu in the directory /pub/foster/russell: total 5264 -rw-r--r-- 1 foster ftp 236346 Oct 8 11:25 no_decsol.dat -rw-r--r-- 1 foster ftp 611448 Oct 8 11:25 no_decsol.ps -rw-r--r-- 1 foster ftp 236346 Oct 8 11:25 no_eqnx.dat -rw-r--r-- 1 foster ftp 679796 Oct 8 11:25 no_eqnx.ps -rw-r--r-- 1 foster ftp 236346 Oct 8 11:25 no_junsol.dat -rw-r--r-- 1 foster ftp 632013 Oct 8 11:25 no_junsol.ps no_eqnx is for spring equinox conditions. no_decsol is for december solstice conditions. no_junsol is for june solstice conditions. The *.ps files are postscript, each containing 6 contours of log10 NO. (You should be able to view them w/ any postscript previewer), as follows: frame 1: latitude vs height at longitude -180 (lt 12) frame 2: latitude vs height at longitude 0 (lt 0 ) frame 3: longitude vs height at latitude 2.5 frame 4: longitude vs height at latitude 17.5 frame 5: longitude vs height at latitude 42.5 frame 6: longitude vs height at latitude 67.5 All height scales are 70 to 300 km. The *.dat files are ascii data (NOT log10) of the same slices as that contoured in the ps files. I am attaching a simple fortran program showing how to read these files. Note that the contours are of log10 of cm-3 NO, but the ascii data are cm-3. --Ben ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ben Foster High Altitude Observatory (HAO) foster@ncar.ucar.edu phone: 303-497-1595 fax: 303-497-1589 Nat.
