Bill: Ray made up a series of plots for you, so I will send them for now instead of making up the ones we talked about on the phone yesterday. Ray's cgm file contained 205 frames, so I propose to send them to you broken into groups. The first group are global lat vs lon contours consisting of 68 frames. I have converted these to postscript and tar'd them up into a single file (~6.5Mb). The file is in the /pub/foster directory, and is named sharp.1-68.tar. You can get this file via ftp (in binary mode) and untar it to get each ps file as follows (I recommend doing this in a clean, empty directory): $ ftp hao.hao.ucar.edu ! ftp to our hao machine [when it asks for Name, type anonymous] ! login as anonymous [enter sharp as password] ! any string should work ftp> cd pub/foster ! go to pub/foster directory ftp> bin ! switch to binary mode ftp> get sharp.1-68.tar ! get the file ftp> quit ! quit ftp $ tar xf sharp.1-68.tar ! untar the file to get the *.ps files $ ls ! make sure they're there $ rm sharp.1-68.tar ! remove the tar file At this point you should have 68 files named fr001.ps through fr068.ps. Send them to your printer, or preview with some postscript viewer such as ghostview or pageview. If this works, let me know, and I will prepare the next group of frames. Later, if you want numbers, let me know which frames and I will send ascii files. BTW, if you happen to have an ncar cgm translator such as idt or ictrans (which you would have on any machine that has ncar graphics), I could send you the original ncar cgm file instead of individual ps files -- let me know if this would work. Call me if you have any problems. --Ben ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ben Foster High Altitude Observatory (HAO) foster@ncar.ucar.edu phone: 303-497-1595 fax: 303-497-1589 Nat.
